Featured Kitchens

Just a few snaps of this small but beautifully formed kitchen project carried out in Fulwood as a result of a recommendation from a past customer for which we are grateful.

We removed a wall dividing the dining room from the kitchen to create this open plan space.

The door finish is Evia White which is a matt finish finger print resistant material. The worksurfaces are 20mm quartzstone and the splashbacks are bespoke toughened and sprayed glass. The flooring is Karndean Art Select Parquet.

You may be able to see in the second image how the original room had a slightly vaulted ceiling, then in the 3rd image you can see the CAD image we presented to the client as a proposal and the remaining images tell the story of how we opened up sections of the ceiling and roof and inserted 4 Velux windows to let the light flood in. 

And in the 'before' image you will see all the appliances were free standing but in the completed kitchen not one is to be seen as they are all now integrated.

Please just see the 'before' images below to grasp just what a transformation took place in this 3rd floor apartment.

The first thing to mention must be the ceiling as being concrete and with only one central light we had to install a suspended ceiling so we could fit the many spotlights but the original ceiling was already very low so we sourced very slim profile lights that didn't need transformers so the new ceiling only needed to be 35mm lower; phew, the tall cabinets just fitted!

We are pleased to present to you this small yet beautifully formed kitchen as it features some bespoke commissioned items of interest like the wrought iron wine racks and the solid oak lathe turned surface that is half-rebated over the other top. And the made to measure back-painted glass splashbacks that were sandblasted to remove the reflection and give a satin smooth finish.

The main work surfaces are 12mm thick solid core laminate with a precision machined hole for the black undermount sink.

Unusually for our website, this entry includes a CAD image and a plan of the project. With a small en-suite it's impossible to get an overall photograph of the room and, if you don't know the space, you may be wondering how it all works, so the CAD image and plan are to help make that clear.

My goodness some major effort went into this creation as the room had received 3 makeovers in its 100 year lifetime with tile over tile over tiles.......it all needed to be taken right back to its original shell and some joists replaced and brickwork repaired and every last bit of pipe and wire removed and then totally replumbed and rewired. But sharp looking projects like this only look the business because of the proper preparation....

Tradhus being a UK made timber framed design and build energy efficient home described in 2008 as 'Tomorrows Home Today'. And a bit of a challenge for us searching through the different layers of insulation without harming its integrity to find the frame to fix our cabinets securely.
