Nacarado being the name of the quartzite worksurfaces. Very many hours over very many weeks and months went into the detailed planning of this kitchen. It can be difficult to know at the start of a project whether to choose the flooring, worktops or cabinet colours first but on this project there had to be a bold and unusual statement or centre-piece of significant interest so the search began for a stone surface that contained a number of interesting features and different colours that we could coodinate or contrast with. The flooring choice of Corten Rust came second, the Keller Cabinets in high gloss lacquer 'Blossom' third and then the Raspberry glass splashbacks being the finishing touch.
We don't believe in the need for all appliances to be of the same brand in a room; more important they can do the job than have the same badge so in this room we have Kuppersbusch induction hob and warming drawers, Neff ovens, Norcool wine chiller drawers, Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer and Westin extractor. Each one picked because it met a specific specification. If you are wondering why we used Kuppersbusch warming drawers and wondering where they are in the pictures its becuase we needed a warming drawer that we could attach a Keller drawer front too.....and they are under the ovens.
The skirtings around the room are made from the same porcelain floor tiles so there will be no maintenance and decorating in later life.
Lighting was incredibly inportant too as this is a North facing room with poor light from outside even on a sunny day. It does mean having about 4 light switches but its good to be build up or reduce down in layers the room lighting and have some on dimmers too.
