Sometimes we are presented with a good sized room which at a glance you'd think will be an easy one to plan a kitchen in - then you see where people need to walk to get from one room to another via that kitchen and you realise you have to put your thinking cap on. This was one of those.....but hey we triumphed by designing this island with a concave seating area. And that was enhanced by using a curved 1.5mm thick sheet of beautiful brushed steel as the backing panel to the units. The island top was fabricated from Corian and although made in sections, once installed the joins just can't be found.
The ceilings are quite low by normal standards but we still decided to sacrifice a little storage space by stopping the tall units short and having a bulkhead into which we installed an extractor vent sucking the cooking smells out and another vent for blowing the cleaned air back in......simply because there was no way of getting to an outside wall with any ducting. Give us a problem and 9 times out of ten we will give you a solution!
